My Story
I make handmade rugs and rug mirror with various designs that are inspired by Japanese culture and my personal life experiences. I hope that, when with you, the rugs will make your room brighter, give you joy throughout your day, or, a delightful gift for friends or loved ones.
I also create mirrors with playful, handcrafted frames. By designing cute and eye-catching frames, I want people to be drawn to the mirror and when they look into it, feel cute and confident. The frame becomes a reminder to see yourself with softness and love.
One-of-a kind
My rugs are almost made by hand writing. I really love to see that the colors of yarn come out randomly, that makes my rug only one in the world even if they have same design. I hope it would be special for someone:)

Hello, my name is Hitomi!
I’m from Yokohama, Japan and based in Brooklyn, New York. Through the creation of beautiful rugs, I’d like to spread the same joy and inspiration that creating these rugs gives me.
I started PoifulRugs when I began tufting and completely fell in love with the process. Watching colors appear randomly and blend together in unexpected ways felt almost magical. I became deeply absorbed in the joy of creating something entirely from scratch.I hope my rugs can bring brightness and warmth into people’s everyday lives, adding a little spark of joy to their spaces. Every rug is one of a kind — a unique gift that exists only once in the world.
